"Creativity is the synapse between two normally disassociated matrices of thought."
... Arthur Koestler
Welcome to my "virtual" design studio ...
One of the main reasons I've decided to open my studio to visitors, like yourself, is to be able to exchange ideas with other designers. Hopefully, we will have a chance to do this.
I also wanted to provide a place where my students and other professionals could get a broader/deeper sense of my work and interests as a designer. I should note, with a crescendo of praise, that whatever I have acomplished in my career has, with few exceptions, been achieved in the context of a broader team of professionals ... without them there would be no need for this website.
While educated primarily as an architect and engineer, I have worked in many fields including architecture, structural engineering, industrial design, environmental planning, geographic information systems, systems engineering, computer programming, website design, research, and education.
I think the undelying thread in my various experiences has been the realization that "design" is not a profession but rather a generic concept that underlies all aspects of life. It represents a way of thinking and an understanding, if you will, that we all need to be responsible creators. But I am getting ahead of myself ... perhaps we'll have a chance to talk more about this later.
Please make yourself at home ...
